Creative Supervision
Supervision
What is Creative Arts Supervision?
Creative supervision uses different art mediums such as, drawing, writing, role play or movement to engage the senses and imagination in the reflective process. By encouraging the supervisee to go beyond the formal demands of their professional role it can help bring a fresh perspective to their practice.
This approach often promotes a new direction in their thinking, bringing about personal insights and ideas which would not have been accessed through verbal discussion alone. We then work together to find ways to integrate this new self-awareness and understanding into their professional practice.
A session may begin with dialogue, before deciding on an artistic medium to explore the presenting issue further. Time is given for reflection afterwards. Supervisees are often surprised at the results their creativity can bring, and the way this can transform their working relationships.
All the work is strictly confidential and is a requirement for professional development and good clinical practice.
